HOW IT STARTED

Emily's fitness journey began long before she realized it would become her career. The summer before 8th grade, she joined her school's strength and conditioning program and quickly fell in love with training. Throughout middle school and high school, she participated in as many sports as possible while continuing to build strength in the weight room.

When she started college, however, her lifting journey temporarily came to a halt. Intimidated by the university weight room, Emily shifted her focus and began training for a half marathon instead. After crossing the finish line of her first race, she realized something was missing—she missed lifting weights.

With a little encouragement from a friend who convinced her to step back into the weight room, everything changed. Emily rediscovered her passion for strength training and began exploring group fitness classes. Before long, she competed in her first powerlifting meet, started teaching her own group fitness classes, and began working as a personal trainer.

What started as a love for movement and strength gradually evolved into a career dedicated to helping others discover their own confidence, health, and potential through fitness. Before she knew it, her passion had become her profession.

WHERE IT LEAD

Emily officially began her fitness career as a Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer at Emporia State University. She later served as the Coordinator of Fitness and Wellness at Duke University, where she helped guide diverse populations toward healthier lifestyles.

During this time, she met her wife, Dr. Jennelle LeBeau, a D.O. in the United States Army. Following military relocation to Fort Riley, Kansas, Emily officially launched PLUS Wellness — turning years of experience, education, and passion into a mission-driven business.
